Bed Bug Products That Effectively Kills Bed Bugs

Bed Bug Products That Effectively Kills Bed BugsWith several products offered in the market today, you might find yourself asking or searching the Internet about what bed bug products really work. It may be difficult to determine which works best more so where effects and after-effects are concerned. It is said that most available pesticides have the same result as contact spray but what about lingering effects?

In addition to your concern perhaps is the question of whether or not fogging is advisable when it comes to treating bed bugs. This is still being argued about because experts fear that fogging will only make the bed bugs escape and go deeper into hiding. Truth be told, there is no solid data yet available about the effects of fogging to a population of bed bugs.

Bed Bug Products or Pest Management Control

The effects of fogging are still being observed and conclusion is yet to be drawn because there is the issue of its main chemical content, Pyrethrum, as something that flushes and displaces insects from their hiding crevices only to search for other harborages. It is highly likely to do the same to bed bugs hence researchers question its worth as bed bug repellent and killer. In addition to that, there is also the chance of bed bugs becoming resistant to insecticides, in particular synthetic pyrethoids (the major content of most insecticides).

Focus is also needed on pest management control and better customer cooperation in achieving full control over the said critters. Bed bug control does not merely rely on bed bug products like pesticides but also on non-chemical measures such as steaming, vacuuming, constant cleaning and careful attention to bringing home second hand items. Another effective anti-bed bug measure is getting high quality mattress and box spring encasements. Just make sure that the encasement you get is bite-proof and escape-proof and is installed correctly.

Admittedly though, bed bugs continue to pose as a problem to many home dwellers but effective measures against these crawlers may be put in place in order to have a bite-free slumber. Better education about how to recognize their presence in your place and what to do about them plus the availability of various bed bug products can help in getting rid of their presence.

Sprays

Sprays are said to be only effective when applied in a direct, targeted fashion. In the past, sprays containing DDT have helped eradicate the pest but because DDT has been banned by the FDA, its use is no longer recommended. Today, bed bug sprays available are those that contain pyrethroids or chlorfenapyr. Pyrethroids are chrysanthemum flower extracts derivative that can annoy and paralyze bed bugs temporarily thus they avoid treated areas. Chlorfenapyr on the other hand is the choice of most experts because it has a more lasting effect, keeping bed bugs away longer.

Another popular addition to bed bug products is the insect growth inhibitor that can impede the growth of bed bugs therefore not allowing it to mature and reproduce. The result is eventual death of the bugs. Most pest controllers use this product together with pyrethroids for better effect.

Encasements

There are many areas such as hotels that are not bed bug proof hence encasements such as luggage and clothing encasements are recommended for travelers. Box springs encasements are another ideal product for mattress protection.

Heaters and Monitors

Because not all items that you own may be washed and vacuumed, you can still treat bed bugs with heaters designed to kill the said pests when subjected to a certain degree of heat. Monitors with chemical compound CO2 are bed bug products that lure insects out to help you determine the presence of bed bugs prior to moving into an area or find out if all insects were eradicated after a treatment.

More products to help get rid of bed bugs are offered such as plastic cups that work as interceptors to prevent the pests from climbing up the legs of beds or sofas. Other products include detection kits to identify strange black specks if they are bed bug droppings, laundry treatments to kill bed bugs and eggs in clothing items while being washed and dry vapor steamers that may be used on and around sofas and beds.
